‘Saturday Night Live’ ratings: Elizabeth Banks show falls back after Donald Trump surge

SNL -The biggest thing that we were disappointed about with the Donald Trump episode “Saturday Night Live” was that the show really failed to take advantage of whatever ratings that they had. If they had delivered a show that was edgy, hilarious, and entertaining, then maybe some of those viewer totals (the highest in years) would have considered sticking around.

Instead, the show was a critical flop, too safe, and it felt the sort of taste in viewers’ mouths that had them thinking that the show was so much funnier many decades ago than it is today. After looking the ratings last night hosted by Elizabeth Banks, it is pretty clear that not many of those people stuck around beyond the loyal fans.

Overall, this “SNL” episode drew in total a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is a drop of eight tenths. This also is perfectly in line with most of the average for the show this season. We do at least think that overall, the quality was at such a level that people will be interested in watching in the weeks to come.

One other thing that should help “SNL” this coming weekend? The fact that Matthew McConaughey is hosting with musical guest Adele. She is the biggest star on the planet when it comes to music right now, while the “Dallas Buyers Club” star should be at least a solid draw in his own right. While we don’t think monster ratings are in order, we do think somewhere around a 2.1 is feasible for the night.
