‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12 spoilers: Is someone visiting a therapist?

Grey's AnatomyLet’s be honest: There are a LOT of people right now who have a need for some therapy on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Some of them are in dysfunctional relationships, while others are having a difficult time grieving or handling some difficult people around them.

When you consider all of this, doesn’t it make a little bit of sense that the show would be introducing a shrink? Per a report from TVLine, longtime TV veteran Bill Smitrovich has been cast in what is the (unconfirmed) role of the aforementioned therapist. There is no word on who would interact with or how long his stint on the show would be, but given the frenetic pace that some of these characters tend to operate (we mean that both metaphorically and literally), it could make for some interesting television to have these people start to slow things down and deal with some of their problems.

In the immediate future, some of the biggest ones include tension between Jo and Alex, Callie and Penny trying to find stability in their relationship now that she is at the Grey Sloan Memorial, and also Meredith dealing with Penny’s presence and still the aftereffects of Derek’s death.

We are starting to get near the end of the show’s run this fall, but rest assured there is still a lot coming in the new year. In recent weeks, the show has once again rivaled “Scandal” as the top drama on ABC for Thursday nights. Let’s see if that momentum keeps on trucking.
