‘Criminal Minds’ season 11, episode 8 preview: First look at oh-so-creepy ‘Awake’

If the goal moving into the next new episode of “Criminal Minds” was to give you as little information as possible in advance, we definitely feel as though the show succeeded. The promo below for next week’s new episode “Awake” makes it fairly clear that we are facing a victim who seems to come at you as soon as you finally fall asleep … but not before potentially tormenting you every step of the way.

The synopsis below gives you a little more of a sense as to what the UnSub of the week is going to be up to, and it also appears like the show will continue to tackle the main story of the Dirty Dozen at the same time. Take a look:

“The BAU hunts an UnSub in Phoenix who is kidnapping victims and depriving them of sleep. Also, Hotch and Garcia deal with the threat from the underground hitman group, the ‘Dirty Dozen.'”

This episode will be the last one for the month of November, as the show is understandably going to be taking off the week before Thanksgiving. That is a time when there are traditionally lower ratings, and given the show’s struggles this fall, which may be due to “Empire” or strictly viewer fatigue, it makes some sense for them to take advantage of the viewers when they are actually there. Typically, few are interested in watching right before Thanksgiving.
