‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 7 review: Is Lash gone, and is Rosalind really on Team SHIELD?
Could Lash be stopped? Going into Tuesday night’s episode of “Agents of SHIELD,” this was understandably the question on our mind. Learning that Andrew was the man behind the monster really put him past the point of no return. We knew that there would need to be a confrontation, and one that would likely lead to the character’s death.
The one element of good news that we can offer you is that Andrew is technically still alive. What’s the twist? He is now in a state of potential stasis, waiting to see if Rosalind or someone else can find a cure for his condition. He hid much of the truth behind his alter ego out of shame, and admits that it what caused his relationship with May to fall apart. We hope that eventually there can be a way to fix him, but May clearly realized before capturing Lash that the odds of this happening in the near future are slim. In that moment, she was willing to kill him if it meant protecting everyone else that she cared about.
For the most part, we enjoyed the Lash story so much that it was harder to focus on some other things … even though they were present. For example, look at Fitz continuing to help out Simmons, even though it has to be almost impossible for him to be okay with her wanting to go back where the guy she is in love with is. Also, look at Rosalind and Coulson igniting the heart of ‘shippers everywhere!
With Lash dispatched, the episode had to give us some sort of ulterior cliffhanger, and they did that in the closing seconds by revealing that Rosalind just so happens to have the same last name as our super-mystery-man played by Powers Boothe! Also, she may be Hydra? Well, this complicates things. Episode Grade: B+.
