‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 8 preview: Can Clara escape her own mind?

We feel like the comparisons for now between Saturday’s “Doctor Who” episode “The Zygon Inversion” and “Nightmare in Silver” are at least somewhat apt. Both revolve around struggles of the mind, and in this case, Clara Oswald has to contend with an evil Zygon creation taking over her body.

Can she find a way to escape? The sneak peek below shares off her struggle pretty perfectly, in addition to showing off some of Jenna Coleman’s acting abilities. While she is a great Companion, we are starting to wonder now whether or not she should be off hunting for some more villain roles after this. She is rather good taking on that sort of part!

As we watch this sequence of events play out, we cannot help but wonder now whether or not we are getting near the end of the road for Coleman as Clara now. We know she is leaving the show at some point this season, and if there was ever a reason for her character to depart, this would be it. We have to imagine that contending with this sort of problem really gets into your head (in some ways literally), and you question whether or not you want to continue to put yourself through this sort of torment. She’s done it so far, but clearly at this point, things are different.
