TV Quick Hits: ‘Star Trek’ chatter; ‘Chicago Med’ sneak peek, ‘Jane the Virgin’ features Britney Spears

More on “Star Trek” – At the moment, it is fairly hard to doubt the pop-culture impact that “Star Trek” has had, and the reaction to an upcoming series for CBS All Access this week has been particularly intense. For the most part, it is hard to detect anyone who is not excited in one way or another about what could be brought to the table here.

With this being said, we cannot say that this move is without at least some controversy, in particular when it comes to people proclaiming that this is harmful to CBS affiliates who would love to have the show. CBS Corporation head Les Moonves detailed some of the reasoning behind the venue, per The Hollywood Reporter, on an earnings call:

“We remain a good partner for Netflix and Hulu. Star Trek is a family jewel; it’s an important piece of business for us as we go forward. We’re looking to do original content on All Access and build up that platform. Netflix is our friend a competitor. They compete with [CBS Corp.’s] Showtime. All Access will put out original content and knowing the loyalty of Star Trek fans, this will boost it. … There’s about a billion channels out there and because of Star Trek, people will know what All Access is about.”

“Chicago Med” video – Want to take a further look into the world of “Chicago Med”? The latest video is a great way to get affiliated with not only some of the cast members, but also what executive producer Dick Wolf is envisioning for the new series, as well, upon its premiere on November 17.

“Jane the Virgin” features Britney Spears – Finally, take a look below at a first-look promo and also synopsis featuring Britney on Monday’s episode. For the time being, it feels like this is going to be pretty hilarious:

“Jane (Gina Rodriguez) thinks she is finally ready to make a decision about her love life. Alba (Ivonne Coll) has taken the proper steps to become a citizen, but Xo’s (Andrea Navedo) past might make it more difficult than anyone was expecting. Rogelio (Jaime Camil) learns that his nemesis, Britney Spears, is at the Marbella Hotel and he is determined to confront her about their past. Michael (Brett Dier) is so caught up in his ongoing feud with Rafael (Justin Baldoni) that he ends up in big trouble at work. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Groblas) gets an offer from her ex Milos (guest star Max Bird-Ridnell) she just can’t refuse.”
