‘The X Factor’ UK notes: Mason Noise, Louisa Johnson, and Lauren Murray highlights
We begin this edition of “X Factor” notes with what is becoming almost a biweekly tradition: Mocking the British press in regards to how much celebrity someone has before the competition.
This time around, it’s Mason Noise. There are so many stories out there about how he has worked on music videos and had top management and training before the show … and our response for that is “good for him.” We don’t understand the business that wants to punish contestants on this show for actually working hard to make their dreams come true rather than just showing up at an audition hoping for the best. There are other reasons out there for people to dislike someone like Mason, but this isn’t really one of them. Plus, if you don’t want him to win, just don’t vote for him. It’s pretty simple.
As for some other news…
Louisa Johnson’s personal story – Speaking to OK! Magazine, the singer (favored by many to win) claims that she is newly-single following a recent breakup. We know that’s easy to be cynical about, but when you are a teenager dealing with that and the pressure of the competition, it has to be a little bit overwhelming. This is something that is a growing experience, though, and she will have plenty of support around her.
Lauren Murray on cyber attacks – Speaking per the Mirror, Murray made it clear just what sort of information and messages contestants on this show are now being sent by their “fans.” It’s gruesome stuff:
“People can be so mean on Twitter, they forget that we’re all just normal people. A few of us have even had death threats. And we’ve had people send pictures of themselves cutting our names into their arms. It’s horrible!”
We feel like the one thing producers can do for these people if they are not already is giving them some sort of crash course or seminar discussing what is probably going to happen to them as a result of being on the show on social media. While it is important to be aware sometimes of legitimate threats, the majority of the people online are just out there for a attention and choose horrible ways to do so.
