Bonus ratings: ‘Supergirl’ live+3 data, Leah Remini’s ’20/20′ special on Scientology

Supergirl -There are occasionally a few ratings headlines that we just don’t get to for whatever reason when we post the regular ratings updates.

Let’s start here with “Supergirl,” mostly because there has been a wide array of curiosity when it comes to how this show would fare in the initial week across the board. After it was adjusted down slightly in the final numbers Monday, it was revealed that it had tied “Blindspot” as the top drama premiere this season. Now with live+3 data factored in, the show rose to a 4.1 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. This is an increase of more than 30% from the premiere, but at the same time this puts it behind “Blindspot” in the measure.

We don’t think that CBS is that upset over this; they knew that there was a chance it wouldn’t be the #1 show out there. Retention will be the key. While most seemed to enjoy the show, it also was airing behind “The Big Bang Theory” and could lose some of the benefit from that lead-in. Monday will be a big test.

In other news – The much hyped Leah Remini sit-down all about Scientology on “20/20” last night delivered a 1.7 rating, which is the best number for this news magazine since the famous Caitlyn Jenner interview back before the Vanity Fair cover and sharing her new public identity with the world.  This ultimately proves that there is a tremendous audience out there for news about the controversial religion, though “Going Clear” also was a prime example of that long before this.
