Ratings: ‘Grimm’ starts low for NBC; ‘Hawaii Five-0,’ ‘Truth Be Told’ rise
There’s hard to ever find extremely good ratings news to report on Friday nights. As we just mentioned, it’s Fridays. This is the time where TV usually goes to die, or at least that was the case before at least four or five years ago. Now, there are at least some quality programs over here … but getting people to watch them is the real challenge.
Winners – Want to talk silver linings? “Truth Be Told,” days after getting its episode count cut down, rose more than 20% to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Here’s the bad news: It didn’t have that much more room to decline. This show’s ratings are notoriously bad still, and it is not going anywhere but the road to cancellation unless they suddenly start to surge. There’s slightly better news for “The Amazing Race” (1.2) and “Hawaii Five-0” (1.1), which showed some improvement and at least have a shot of coming back for another season.
Yep, these are the winners, folks!
Losers – The best thing that “Grimm” can say is that its 1.1 it received for the premiere is equal to the finale rating. However, numbers are expected to be higher in the fall, and you’d think this show in particular would get a Halloween bump. With less than four million live+same-day viewers, this is one of its lowest viewer totals ever.
We also still find the drop for “Shark Tank” (1.4) this season somewhat interesting. Are viewers less interested in seeing the products? We think that this could be part of it, but so could the revolving door of Guest Sharks that the show has brought in. We feel like, at least for the most part, people watch this show for consistency.
