‘The Walking Dead’s’ Norman Reedus to star in reality series on motorcycle culture for AMC

Walking DeadNorman Reedus is expanding his relationship with AMC, and not only that, he is putting himself into a completely new genre.

On Thursday, it was announced that the super-popular star of “The Walking Dead” is set to appear in a six-part unscripted series entitled “Ride with Norman Reedus.” Per an official description uploaded by TVLine, the show “will follow actor and biker-enthusiast Reedus as he takes viewers on a ride on the open road to explore local motorcycle culture and its history and celebrate some of the best and brightest collectors, mechanics and motorcycle craftsmen around the country ,,, Each episode of Ride will begin in a different city where Reedus and his riding companion — a fellow actor, musician, friend, or local chopper fanatic who shares his passion for motorcycles — will journey to a new destination. Along the way, they will stop at various locales such as custom bike shops, tattoo parlors, collector’s warehouses, or [a variety of other locales] … The series will also showcase different types of motorcycles each week including vintage, minis and cruisers.”

It is interesting to see that AMC is getting back into the unscripted game after scrapping virtually all of it other than “Comic Book Men” not long ago, but we feel that a whole lot of that may have to do with the appeal of working with the actor on this project. His presence alone should bring ratings, and TV is lacking at the moment much motorcycle-themed programming following the end of “Sons of Anarchy” last year. (There is a spin-off / companion series in the works at FX.)

This new series is set to premiere next year, and we’ll have further news soon. If you missed it, we also wrote further about Reedus and his “Walking Dead” character of Daryl Dixon in our most-recent CarterMatt Extended. Check that out over here.
