‘Chicago PD’ season 3, episode 6 review: Will Ruzek pull away from Burgess?

Chicago PDWhen we last saw Lindsay and Halstead on “Chicago PD” they were hooking up on Lindsay’s new couch, but are they going to become an item like Adam and Burgess? Speaking of Adam, he lost his badge and place on Voight’s team on the last episode, so we aren’t going to be seeing too much of him in action tonight. Is losing his place on the team going to make him push Burgess away?

We have been waiting for Olinsky’s paternity results to come in and now he’s got them! Is he a dad to this girl? He had a difficult time actually opening the envelope, so he headed down to the gym to take his daughter out to dinner instead and threw the results in the garbage. Why wouldn’t he want to know – for everyone’s sake? Even if he’s not her father, he can still step in as a father figure.

Burgess wants to help Adam and is thinking of talking to Crawley about what a good detective Adam is, but she is advised against it by Trudy, mostly because Trudy thinks that she can get through to Crawley herself. Trudy is able to get through to her and Adam is reinstated for full duty.

Burgess wants to help take the stress away from Adam and suggests that they leave the wedding planning aside until after everything is cleared up for him at work, but he tells her that she’s the best thing that he has going on and doesn’t want to do that. We don’t think that we can ship this couple any harder then we do, and then Ruzek says something incredibly sweet like this. Le sigh.

As for Lindsay and Halstead… are we going to see a real relationship for these two? Doesn’t look like it – Lindsay tells Halstead that it’s a one time thing and that they have to keep it professional. Seems to be a song and dance that Lindsay has played with Halstead a few times over now. Why not just give up the song and dance and be together? Voight is a big boy and can get over it. Halstead calls her out on it, saying that everyone knows and that it’s time to just be together… and with that he kisses her at the bar in front of everyone before leaving together. Finally they are a couple!!!

Roman is taking some time off work to spend with Andrew before he passes away, taking him out of the hospital and on a trip to the police station. They make Andrew the captain for the day, giving him a desk, hot chocolate and duties to perform. Have we mentioned how much we love Roman?

This episode gave us everything we love about this show – many personal stories about out main group. The case of the week was a little dull, but it didn’t even matter, because we saw that Ruzek knows what he has with Burgess, Roman being a hero to Andrew, Trudy going to bat for Adam, and Halstead and Lindsay becoming a legit couple! Episode grade: A-
