‘The X Factor’ UK: Nick Grimshaw, Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini on Mason Noise surprise

Nick -

On Sunday night’s new episode of “The X Factor,” Nick Grimshaw certainly went with his gut when picking the three singers he wanted to bring to the live shows: Mason Noise, Che Chesterman, and Seann Miley Moore. The snub of Josh Daniel is probably the one that hurts more than any other right now, with Monica Michael over on the Girls team firmly in second place.

So does Nick have second thoughts about the pick, given the fact that the live audience in part booed him over choosing Mason? It doesn’t sound like it. While speaking on his Radio One show on Monday, he made it clear that audiences should be willing to give him a second chance despite his outburst at the Six-Chair Challenge which caused him to be temporarily kicked out of the competition:

“He is just so good though … I know he had beef with Simon [Cowell] but Simon has forgiven him. And if Simon can forgive him then everyone can forgive him. You know? Get over it!”

One other person who certainly had a reason to have beef with Mason was fellow judge Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini, who he blasted on social media by saying that she has little musical talent and therefore had no business being a judge. After Nick chose him, he quickly apologized to her for his comments, and she has made it clear that she is ready to move on. She seemed to accept his apology in an interview on “Good Morning Britain”:

“Everybody says and does things in the heat of the moment. The fact that he was man enough to do that live on air, I respect him for it, and him and I will talk and, you know, he’s a super talented guy.”

The reason we say “seemed” here is because she did not necessarily say that she will forgive him, but this does mark a positive step in that direction.
