‘The Leftovers’ season 2, episode 5 preview: The story for Christopher Eccleston’s Matt

Leftovers -Through most of “The Leftovers” season 2, HBO and the show’s producers have done a tremendous job of giving many of its characters individual snapshots. The first episode was an introduction to the Murphy family, while episode 2 brought Kevin Garvey back into the fold in a significant way. Episode 3 was a take on Laurie and Tom’s new lives, while episode 4 brought us back into the world of Kevin once more.

Faith has in some way been a part of this show since the beginning, and it makes sense for next week to focus more on the troubled Reverend Matt Jamison. We know that he came to Miracle before Nora and Kevin, but what is he looking for? These stories will be key components for “No Room at the End,” next week’s new episode that is clearly making a Jesus reference in the title. Take a look at the synopsis for some news on what to expect:

“Rev. Matt Jamison (Christopher Eccleston) takes his vegetative wife, Mary (Janel Moloney), outside Miracle to seek answers about her condition, but their lives take a dangerous detour when he is barred from returning to town. Racing to get her back into Miracle, he struggles to keep Mary safe from desperate tourists squatting just outside the town’s gates.”

The promo below makes it very clear just how real and how difficult Matt’s struggle is going to be, and while we’re dreading what could become of him outside the town (we’ve already seen a grim picture painted of it), we’re excited for what could be another fantastic episode.
