‘Homeland’ season 5, episode 4 video: Saul’s latest conversation
Just who is in control of Syria within the world of “Homeland“? This is something that the sneak peek below features prominently courtesy of a discussion between Saul and a general from the country. It’s just not one that really offers up all that much in the way of answers.
Saul seems to do his part here to offer up at least some reassurance that if the same people remain in power, there will have to be some sort of paying for what has been done. As for just how that will manifest itself, that remains to be seen. Saul then uses that reassurance that the government will do the right thing to threaten the man, and sway him to come over and be of use to the American people. Are those in power really to be trusted? In the world of this show, more often than not the answer to that is “no.”
We’re not sure that Mandy Patinkin’s character is going to really get precisely what he wants out of this conversation, but at the same exact time, there have been many occasions in which we’re not sure that he does. Saul’s strength is the long game, and figuring out ways to ensure victory that don’t often appear clear to anyone at first. We have a feeling that this will be in one way or another the way that this particular story works out, as well.
