‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5, episode 5 video: Does Henry get through to Emma?

“Once Upon a Time” Sunday night is going to continue to reinforce some of the show’s principal themes on Sunday night’s new episode, and the sneak peek below harkens back in particular to a question raised in the pilot episode: Is it really possible for Emma Swan to bring happy endings to the residents of Storybrooke? Is she really the Savior in the way in which it has been predicted?

Henry does his part to try to reminder her of some of these things in the video, though we’re not sure that this strategy is going to work for a variety of reasons.

1. This isn’t the same Emma – We’re dealing here with the Dark Swan, who is operating with her own specific goals in mind, and we’re not sure that happiness is necessarily one of them. While her precise endgame is not entirely clear just yet, she definitely is not looking or hoping for the same things that she once was.

2. Henry’s motives here are not entirely pure – Does he want Emma to get back to giving people the endings that they deserve? Sure, but there’s another wrinkle to it in this case, as he also wants to ensure that the young girl he has a crush on is able to find what she is looking for, that way she will be in the right frame of mind to accompany him to a dance.

Given how selfless Henry typically is, and the fact that he is still a kid, we’re actually rather glad to see him thinking about himself first and foremost. It’s rare! Yet, it probably isn’t going to help him to turn Emma around.
