‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 6 preview: More on ‘The Woman Who Lived’

Doctor Who -This past episode of “Doctor Who” really put a lot of effort into surprising you, in between bringing out Vikings and having some shocking things happen to one of the big guest stars of the hour in Maisie Williams.

Well, let’s just say that it will take you almost no time at all to be surprised all over again going into the next new episode entitled “The Woman Who Lived” on Saturday. In the video below, star Peter Capaldi teases how he particularly enjoyed this episode, starting with the history of it all. This is one of his favorite times in history, and he particularly enjoyed getting the opportunity to navigate through this time period and see some of these different characters.

In the context of the story, he also teased that over the course of this hour, events transpire that will have a great bearing on the Doctor’s psyche and his future. This is something that we saw him struggle with already in “The Girl Who Died”; he’s a man who we feel aspires in part to be a hero, but continues to have so many different problems that surface that make it rather hard for him to take up that title. Specifically, he feels guilt over how many have perished at the result of his actions.

We don’t imagine that this emotional hangup is going to be completely resolved at the end of this upcoming episode. With that being said, we are interested in seeing it explored in much greater depth.
