‘The Amazing Race 27’ episode 5 preview: A true walk on the wild side

Animal-related tasks on “The Amazing Race” are hardly anything new. They’ve been around on the majority of the seasons, thought typically they involve animals that are either cute or comical (or, in one particular season, a “feisty zebra”).

So for the animals to be particularly dangerous on Friday night’s episode is exciting, and another example of really interesting timing on the part of the show this season. They visited Argentina around the same time as Pope Francis visited America (we wonder if the show had the foresight to know the Pope was coming at the time they were filming), and lions are still very much in the cultural zeitgeist after all of the incredibly-sad news this summer with the animals being hunted for sport. We feel like this sort of TV appearance really showcases the beauty of the creatures, and the need to try to protect them.

The sneak peek below features specifically Justin & Diana alongside Denise & James Earl literally walking alongside the animals, has has to qualify for being one of the most terrifying things we’ve seen teams do in a while. Animals are tough to control!

Then again, they probably make it out alive … We’re sure there would have been headlines otherwise.

As for the second sneak peek, this features Kelsey & Joey underwater mission to feed some crocodiles. Maybe this is a little more terrifying if you are fearful of water, but at least you have a cage in this case protecting you in the case that things start to go truly awry. Aren’t those teeth pretty fearsome?
