‘Chicago PD’ season 3, episode 5 review: Are Lindsay and Halstead hooking up again?
There’s one big looming question over on “Chicago PD” and it involves Olinsky: Is this girl really his daughter? After Meredith told him to get a paternity test to find out the truth we saw him struggling with it as this girl started to open up to him and treat him like a human being instead of just as a bank. He did end up sending in the mouth guard he swiped to get the paternity test completed, but we still don’t have the results of that. Will it be revealed tonight?
Tonight’s episode has a serious focus on Adam: He is undercover, but no one at work knows about it just his C.I., and things go sideways very quickly when the criminal he is after takes Adam and his truck, rams it into a restaurant, kills a bunch of people including his own crew that is in there robbing the jewelry store next door and leaves. Adam is in serious trouble for taking this on himself and not calling it in before hand, but he hopes that Voight will be able to get him out of it.
Deputy Crawley has been brought in to talk to Adam about the incident and his involvement in shooting one of the criminals while working off the books. She’s being really hard on him, so they go out to find the C.I. to see if he can get to the criminal that drove Adam and his truck into the restaurant, but when he turns up dead things are looking bleak for Adam. Eventually they find the criminal that hijacked Adam and he thinks he’s going to be okay, but he ends up getting stripped of his weapon and duties. Is this it for Adam and his place on the team.
Lindsay is moving back into her own place and asks Halstead for a “couch guy”, giving him the indication that they might hook up again if he helps her out, so he jumps into action. After getting her couch these two fell back into each other’s arms again. It was great to see these two with each other again, there’s so much chemistry here, but with the way that Voight feels about inter-department relationships we wonder if this is really going to happen long term for them.
Burgess is still bummed that Adam failed the push test, but because Adam is in so much trouble tonight, she is stepping back. Roman asks if the wedding is off, and she says no. Roman goes into the hospital to give more marrow to Andrew, but things have progressed in a really bad way with his disease and Roman is no longer able to help.
We were hoping to get more movement on the Olinsky paternity test, but no dice tonight. Why must they torture us like this! There was certainly a lot of action tonight, but we typically like the episodes of “Chicago PD” where we have more focus on our main cast and their interpersonal stories. Episode grade: B-
