‘Empire’ season 2, episode 5 preview: Lucious and Jamal talk things out

“Empire” season 2 is a show that loves to find new ways to hype up the drama, so can they do that again on Wednesday night’s new episode?

In the sneak peek below, we get an up-close-and-personal look at one of the most notable guest stars of the season: Ne-Yo. This one has a little bit of added significance when you consider that the singer is also one of the architects for the music on the show this season, so he’s really playing a major part in almost every aspect of production.

Ne-Yo really is just in this preview as a way to show that Jamal is hitting it big, since the two are going to be heading out on tour together! The primary subject of the clip is Lucious telling his son that he cannot bring a romantic partner out with him on tour, saying that he needs to be in “seduction mode” with the crowd and anything that gets in the way will serve as a distraction. Ne-Yo does not seem to entirely agree with the advice.

It will be rather interesting to see where “Empire” goes from here, since there have been times this season where Jamal has listened (and listened closely) to some of what his father has had to say. However, at the same time there’s no one more cold-blooded than Lucious. He may be able to get his son a little bit of unprecedented success, but at the same time, this could all come ultimately at the expense of a personal life that is somewhat healthy.
