ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Stana Katic’s Beckett finds a new rival

Beckett -While Monday night’s new episode of “Castle” seems to be focusing in part on a certain piece of Castle mythology (namely one of his favorite authors being found dead), we’ve got some casting news today that should be particularly appealing to many of you who are major Beckett fans out there.

According to a new report from TVLine, Kris Polaha of “Ringer” and “Life Unexpected” fame has been cast in a recurring role as Caleb Brown, a described “idealistic” public defender who will be in opposition to Stana Katic’s character on a number of occasions. One of the questions that we are left to ask here is whether or not the people he is defended are those he believes to be innocent, or those he just wants to “help” by means of furthering his own career.

Another important question? Whether or not this character is in any way tied to the mysteries surrounding the entire season for Beckett so far. We have explored a little bit of this mythology so far, but it is still clear that there is some further ground to cover. This story is going to pick up at some point over the weeks ahead; at the moment, though, it appears that the next two episodes are going to have some sort of procedural element to them.

We’ll give you a review of Monday night’s new episode of “Castle” later tonight, since we imagine that it is going to be a fun one, and something that will remind us more of why we enjoy this series to begin with.
