‘Daredevil’ season 2: Jon Bernthal makes big statement on playing the Punisher

While at New York Comic-Con this weekend, it should not come as much of a surprise to anyone that “Daredevil” was a hot topic. This show was a big hit on Netflix earlier this year, and in some ways breathed new life into a character who was not completely well-received in the cinema.

So can the show do this with another character coming up? While the Punisher has some fans thanks to his films, we really haven’t see any of them become commercial smashes. Marvel Studios is taking this extremely seriously, and with that, we feel like they are doing all the right things by bringing this character into this universe. Not only that, but they’ve cast someone in the role in Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead”) who seriously believes in this character. Not only that, but The Hollywood Reporter claims that there were discussions between Bernthal’s people and Marvel about the character even before it was decided that he would be on “Daredevil.”

Speaking to the crowd at a panel for the show, the actor promised that he was going to do everything that he could in order to ensure that this was the Punisher that they wanted:

“I know how important this character is to you guys … I know that. I know how important this show is to you guys. I know how important he is to law enforcement and the military. I look at this as a huge honor, a huge responsibility. … I give you my word, I’m going to give everything I have.”

We know that there was a trailer shown at the event, but we’re going to wait to see a high-quality version (versus a pirated one) before discussing it here.
