‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 2 preview: Tea Leoni, Madeleine Albright talk cameo appearance

MadamSunday night’s new episode of “Madam Secretary” is certainly looking as though it is going to be a jam-packed installment and then some. Not only do you have an important story thread carrying through “The Doability Doctrine,” but you’ve also got perhaps the most notable guest star in the history of the show in Madeleine Albright. The former Secretary of State, and quite possibly one of the most famous women to ever hold this position alongside Hillary Clinton, is guest-starring as herself Sunday to give some advice to Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni).

In the video below, you can see Leoni, Albright, and even Tim Daly discuss at length some of the process of working on this show. For Madeleine, she embraced this as a new challenge and opportunity to do something different. She also commented on how modern TV is really keeping up with the issues. (Leoni, meanwhile, claimed she thought she would be a better actor than Albright if nothing else … but then said that even that may not be the case.)

Our favorite moment of the entire preview video, though, may be Daly recounting a story of how Albright was a fan of his on “Private Practice,” and as a result of that was extremely bummed out when the show ended up killing off his character. Let’s hope for better things for Henry here.

This episode marks the second straight major coup for “Madam Secretary” when it comes to guest casting, given that they are also coming off an appearance from Morgan Freeman as a Supreme Court judge in the premiere.
