‘Longmire’ season 5: The renewal campaign continues with fans, Robert Taylor

LongmireWe feel like we have spent a good bit of time over the past month and a half talking about “Longmire” season 4 and the show’s future, but it has been at least a little while since we’ve discussed the renewal campaign. With that, let’s dive in a little bit to what is going on!

The return of the stampede – While fans were waiting to see if the show would be picked up by Netflix or anyone else over the course of last fall, these social-media stampedes were really popular. The idea here was to get as many people tweeting with the same hashtag as possible, that way to show that there is a unified fan following willing to get the word out.

This week, the hashtag was #LongmireS5Netflix, and we anticipate that there will be some more in the future.

Even series star Robert Taylor got in on the fun, as the fine folks over at Orb Agency posted the video below of the actor wishing the fans good luck.

Where we are right now – While Netflix is notoriously cagey when it comes to revealing ratings or the state of a show that has not been renewed / canceled, at the moment we do feel fairly confident in the future of “Longmire” there. It has generated a good amount of publicity online, and while it is not a hit for them like “House of Cards,” it’s something that brings in a new demographic and has a different flavor than anything else on their roster. Keeping the show would also be a nice sign of good faith given the recent announcement that the cost of a subscription is rising for new members, and will rise for all members starting in October 2016.

Ultimately, it is probably still going to be a little while before we know the show’s fate for certain. Netflix doesn’t need to rush the decision, and there are probably casual fans still catching up on the show.
