‘NCIS’ season 13, episode 4 preview: Mark Harmon, Rocky Carroll team up for ‘Double Trouble’

NCIS -If there is a prevailing theme working at the moment through both this week and next week’s episodes of “NCIS,” it is this: Finding unique ways to pair up characters. During “Incognito,” the story revolved around McGee and Bishop joining forces as a married couple in order to solve a murder.

For next week’s “Double Trouble,” the main difference is that we’re not going to see any specific undercover mission. Instead, this will be a key episode for Mark Harmon and Rocky Carroll as the two characters team up for a case that puts them into the field together. It’s ultimately a chance to see a different dynamic, and a story that could even have some further ties to the past. The synopsis below should at least give you a few more pieces of information:

“Vance partners with Gibbs and returns to field duty when a murder case is connected to a former NCIS agent he locked up for stealing evidence.”

We do wonder if these sort of pairings for cases will be a recurring theme for season 13, and if that is the case, we wonder what other sort of stories the show could explore. We’d love to see the people out in the field cooperate more with some of the people in the lab, and it’s been a while since we’ve had a great Abby story like that. If you are going to change things up, why not go all of the way with it? At this point, there have not been many stories that we would consider fertile ground.
