‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: More appeal for ‘Chuck’ fans

LegendsAt the moment, we feel like the amount of ties between DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” and one of our favorite shows of all time in “Chuck” is starting to become an under-reported story. There are more connections, after all, seemingly appearing by the day.

First, we had the news that Brandon Routh, who recurred on the show for the third season as Daniel Shaw, would be bringing over Ray Palmer. Then, Phil Klemmer, who was one of the most important people behind the scenes on “Chuck,” became the showrunner for “Legends” over the summer.

Now, the latest bit of news, something that was at least a surprise to us, comes courtesy of Marc Guggenheim’s Twitter feed. The executive producer confirms that the third episode of “Legends of Tomorrow” is entitled “Blood Ties,” and he wrote it with none other than Chris Fedak! Fedak was the co-creator of “Chuck” alongside Josh Schwartz, and is responsible for either writing or co-writing many of the most-important episodes, including the eventual series finale. Clearly, someone over at Warner Bros. TV loved working with some of these “Chuck” people and were interested in getting them aboard another show that combines action with humor.

For the record, there is another possibly tie here between “Chuck” and this show, even if it is tangential. “Supergirl” over on CBS may be a part of the same universe as “Legends of Tomorrow” (both have Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg) on board, and one of the primary creative forces on that show is Ali Adler … who happened to also write a number of great “Chuck” episodes.

Ultimately, this news may not mean too much to some of you out there, but we loved “Chuck,” and with so many of the same people involved, we hope that “Legends of Tomorrow” is equally great. Now if only someone can find a spot for Jeffster…
