‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 2 preview: ‘The Doability Doctrine’ and Madeleine Albright

MadamAfter Sunday night’s new episode of “Madam Secretary,” it is definitely safe to say that Elizabeth McCord has undergone some serious training for emergency situations. What else are you meant to call being sworn in for a short amount of time? It was a cool chance to get a cameo from show executive producer Morgan Freeman, and to go along with that, it was simply a thrilling way to start the season. We felt going into season 2 that what the series really needed to do was come up with interesting ways to ensure that it could get some attention, and having the Oscar-winner on was one part of that.

What’s another? How about having popular historical figures from the past on board? Madeleine Albright is arguably one of the most well-known Secretaries of State in the history of our nation, and she will be lending Elizabeth a helping hand on “The Doability Doctrine” next week. Take a look below to see the official synopsis for the hour:

“After Elizabeth receives advice from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, she chooses to ignore President Dalton’s recommendation on how to negotiate the safe return of a State Department employee who was kidnapped in Afghanistan. Also, Henry must find a way to persuade his student, Dmitri (Chris Petrovski), to spy for the U.S. government.”

Judging from the Henry story, it feels pretty easy to assume that the show is really getting things going when it comes to the intrigue and the danger in the early going this season. For anyone looking for a slice of intensity, you’re going to get it from this show.
