‘Fear the Walking Dead’ season 2: Premiere date speculation, challenges for AMC series

fearTonight, it all comes to a close on “Fear the Walking Dead” for 2015 with a season finale that has a lot of business to resolve. Not only do they have to accelerate the story of these characters, but they need to create a dynamic for season 2 that starts to get everyone excited.

After all, if there is one general thing that we will say about the show going into the finale, it is that excitement as waned. We think that the business with the stadium is somewhat interesting for now, but we’re not quite sure that everything that was planned out for “Fear the Walking Dead” going into this season has hit in the way producers hoped. Take, for example, the character of Nick; we feel like the expectation was for more people to care and relate to him than they ultimately have. He is instead one of the show’s most polarizing people, and we’d say it is even worse for Liza.

The series needs to figure out how to make us care for all of its individual people entering season 2, and there are going to definitely be plenty of opportunities to do so. After getting such a tiny episode order this time around there will be 15 installments in season. As for a premiere date, right now we would project early summer. “Halt and Catch Fire” previously occupied this pot, but with its fate uncertain AMC probably will not rely too much on it when making schedule decisions. If they do renew it, it can always be moved up to air in the spot previously occupied by “Mad Men.”

We’ll of course have a review later tonight of the “Fear the Walking Dead” finale, but be sure to also head over here to read more about the upcoming “Talking Dead” special.
