“NCIS” season 13 returns Tuesday night with its second episode entitled “Personal Day,” and what we are going to see here is a discussion about one thing above all else: Gibbs’ new look!
For most of the past year or so, the writers have created a good role for Bishop and McGee as commentators. You can put them in almost any situation, and have them come up with some fun banter about it. This time around, the subject matter is fairly simple: Agent Gibbs’ and his sudden transformation into an even stricter person than he was before the shooting. Gone are the polo shirts, and in their place are suit coats and dress shirts. Also, he’s got a new hairstyle.
As the sneak peek below shows you, Bishop and McGee are even using a visual aid to help further their point! Eventually Tony joins the fray (sort of), and then Gibbs breaks up the silliness with a reminder to continue the next mission.
For many of the characters this season, getting inside the head of this character is going to be a monumental challenge. Gibbs is dealing with a great deal of trauma from the shooting, and it will be some time before he starts to feel normal again. We’re not sure if the old Gibbs, the one that had a very specific dynamic with DiNozzo and other members of the team, will ever be back. In its place could be a version of the character who is immersed more in conflict when certain orders are not met.
