‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12 spoilers: How will Bailey adjust to new role?

Grey's AnatomyGrey’s Anatomy” has always been a show about a certain degree of change, and it looks like this is going to be the case yet again this time. However, we’re not talking about Meredith or some of her new circumstances in this article. Instead, we are casting a little bit more of a focus on Dr. Miranda Bailey.

At the end of the season 12 premiere on Thursday, it turns out that Bailey’s impassioned plea to become the new Chief of the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital was successful. She has a new position of authority, and this will be something that she has to get used to. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Shonda Rhimes makes it clear that this is not something that she is going to be able to adjust to immediately:

“We’re watching her struggle as she learns to take the reins … It’s a job that she’s always wanted. it’s a job that she feels is so important. We’re watching to see what it means to be a leader.”

The thing here is that we know with some confidence that Bailey is a great leader; we’ve seen it so many times! For the most part, the principal fear here is just that she could end up accidentally overcompensating and getting on the nerves of some of the people she is around. She’s also surrounded by other longtime employees of the hospital, and they may not be used to perceiving her as anything other than a co-worker.
