‘Doctor Who’ season 9 video: See the making of Peter Capaldi – Jenna Coleman Abbey Road photo

What happens when you combine two extremely-iconic things? More or less, you get the latest photo above promoting “Doctor Who” season 9 that features Peter Capaldi (The Doctor), Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald), and some Daleks recreating the famous photo from The Beatles at Abbey Road.

This is a very cool photo, but to us what is even more remarkable than this is just how quickly the show managed to get this together for our enjoyment. As you can see in the new video below, this was something that the show pieced together almost at a rapid pace. Within the span of just a couple of minutes, they managed to get the actors out there, take the photos, and then be completely done with it. Often, photo shoots take hours.

We’re not sure entirely what the purpose of this particular brevity is, other than that maybe the group did not have that much time to do this in their schedule, or maybe they could only have the road cleared for so long. Either way, this is simply delightful, and it’s yet another reason why we love this show. There really are few things that match it when it come to creativity, even if this case they are just emulating something that is already done.

Also, this is a nice bit of further consolation over the fact that star Jenna Coleman (Clara) is departing at the end of the season, or at least at some point during it. For the time being, some of the details are being for the most part hammered out, so we’ll have to wait and see what truly happens with that.
