‘Big Brother 18’: Casting news; could an All-Stars be coming?

Big Brother -

Tonight, “Big Brother 17” came to a conclusion, so it only makes some sense that there would be questions about what the future for the franchise could hold. CBS had renewed the show for a season 18 before tonight’s finale even aired, so with that in mind, there was never any reason to worry.

Next season will of course premiere in June, and at the moment there is no sign as to what production is going to do. The show is casting according to this link, and that is a chance for all of you who are longtime fans like winner Steve Moses to give it a shot. This is not a guarantee in the slightest that the next season will feature all new players; it could even be All-Stars! The reason for a casting call is that it gives Robyn Kass and company a pool of people they can pull from at any point. Sometimes, someone is not the right fit for one cast, but could be another down the road. Austin, for example, was almost on season 16.

We feel like for now, it’s a toss-up on if we could have All-Stars next summer. We don’t think this show would ever have an entire public vote like “Survivor,” though, mostly because this is far more archetype-heavy than anything that we have a tendency to see on that show. For example, we’d get in probably both Donny and James, several nerdy superfans, but then not any of the other people who are necessary to give the show some balance. Plus, there’s an inevitable recency bias with this show since you spend time watching them online.

We feel like we’ll probably start getting whispers in May as to what the next season could be. Stay tuned!
