Is ‘Chicago PD’ season 3, episode 1 new tonight on NBC?

Chicago PD -It’s fall premiere week across the Big Four broadcast networks, and with that in mind, it is only fair to assume that one of your own favorite shows is going to be coming back with new episodes. Unfortunately if you are a fan of “Chicago PD” we have to be the bearer of bad news: You’re going to be waiting a little while longer to see what happens with Lindsay, Voight, and the rest of the main characters.

Thanks to NBC deciding to air a two-hour premiere of “Law & Order: SVU” on Wednesday night, the network has shelved the “Chicago PD” premiere until next Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Why do this? We can assume that there are two different reasons for this:

1. Thanks to “SVU” having a larger episode order, putting its premiere on early and as a two-hour episode basically means the two shows can air as a lineup the rest of the season without one having to air any repeats. This is at least if “SVU” has 24 episodes and “Chicago PD” 22, but it is a little early to confirm this.

2. Since “Chicago Fire” is not premiering until we get around to October 13, it makes sense to hold off airing its spin-off show given that there are some stories that will probably run concurrent between the two shows. The longer you keep “PD” on the air, the more fans of both shows are probably going to wonder what happened to Casey.

If nothing else, we do at least have for you today that full cast photo above. Everyone looks about as serious as you would expect.
