‘The X Factor’ UK: Louisa Johnson, Kiera Weathers reported favorites … for now

X Factor -We always love seeing what the majority of the British public think about the contenders on “The X Factor” or any other competition show, and at this point, we definitely find what the bookies are saying entertaining based on what is effectively at this point a well-edited TV show.

According to the Daily Mirror (with information via William Hill), at the moment Louisa Johnson is being pegged as the favorite with 9/2 odds of taking the title. Meanwhile, Kiera Weathers is in second place with listed odds of 5/1.

Here is what we find for the most part so entertaining about this: How can we be so sure that a woman is going to win this early? While it would be wonderful for a solo female act to finally get that sort of recognition on this show, it rarely happens. Instead, the trend here seems to be that the men routinely dominate, and with past voting history taken into account, we just don’t have the confidence to say that a woman is going to win just yet.

With that being said, Louise and Kiera have both been outstanding so far this season, and while there are some male singers this season we find particularly good (Simon Lynch is a standout), it feels pretty easy to say that the crop of women right now is superior to the men. Of course, we should note that we have said this before, and been somewhat disappointed weeks down the road when many of the women are sent home.
