‘Dancing with the Stars 21’ week 2 spoilers: Hometown love for Nick Carter, Bindi Irwin, and more
“Dancing with the Stars” has shown that it loves its themes time and time again, but we’re glad to see that they are seemingly changing things up a little bit from the norm. Typically if you want to get some information about a star’s past, you learn about it when the theme is “dance from the best year of your life,” where they pick a time that was extremely transformative for them. You always have a couple of people just pick the year that they are currently in, and that’s rather boring.
Therefore, for the two-night event coming up this week, the show is mixing things up and giving you two rounds of dances that are all about celebrating both the stars and their pro dancers’ hometowns. We could explain it, but we feel like the synopsis below does a great job:
“The couples are gearing up for one of the toughest weeks of the competition this season with two live shows and a double elimination. In “Hometown Glory” night, each couple will dance two new dance styles to songs that remind the celebrity and pro dancer of the places that shaped who they are today. LIVE on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21(8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), couples will dance to a song that commemorates the celebrity’s hometown. At the end of the night, the couple with the lowest combined judges and viewer votes from last week will be eliminated. LIVE onTUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), the couples will dance another dance to a song that the pro dancer has chosen that reminds them of where they grew up. Another couple will be eliminated on Tuesday night based on the combined judges’ and viewer votes from Monday night.”
We think that there is actually a lot of room for some fun cultural stuff to be explored here that we haven’t had a chance to see on the show. For example, many of the pro dancers are not from the United States, and there are parts of the world that American viewers are not too well-versed on. The same goes at least for some of the stars.
As of right now, Nick Carter and Bindi Irwin are two of the stars at the top of the leaderboard, but we’ll get more into where they stand in terms of our weekly rankings on Sunday.
