Carly Florina follows up memorable GOP Debate performance with ‘Tonight Show’ appearance
This week, Carly Florina probably had more attention on her than at any other point in her campaign thanks to the GOP Debate. It was during this that she vocally challenged Donald Trump about some comments that he had made about her physical appearance, and she was voted by many as having the second-best performance of the event (broadcasted on CNN) behind only the businessman and former “Apprentice” host.
The former HP executive as now used that debate as a launching pad to another huge get, one that is typically not there for a Presidential candidate charting slightly lower in the polls: An appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Florina will be present on Monday’s show, where she will continue to have a chance to continue her rise. Also, this is a chance to show that she has a little bit of a sense of humor in maybe doing one of Fallon’s trademark sketches.
The thing about appearing on “The Tonight Show” right now is that this is an appearance where you can make almost anything that you want out of it. Fallon is not an interviewer who is going to challenge you about policy or force you to dig deep into your campaign. He is going to ask you fairly lighthearted, innocent questions, and then give you the freedom to try to appeal to voters all over the country. Florina’s success will be defined by how she fills that space.
Florina is coming on “The Tonight Show” after Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Chris Christie have all made appearances over the past few weeks. Trump is preparing to appear on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” who has already hosted Jeb Bush and possible candidate Joe Biden.
