‘The X Factor’ UK preview: Nige and Kay perform Demi Lovato – Olly Murs’ ‘Up’

The final auditions for “The X Factor” UK this season are going to be coming up over the weekend, and this means that we’re at the last chance for some of the acts this season to really impress us.

Can Nige and Kay prove themselves worthy of moving forward? This is an interesting one, given that when they first went up on stage, we weren’t sure if this was going to be good or not. The majority of couples who perform on the show, in all honesty, are not good. Typically one of them is much better than the other, or it feels like someone dared them to go out and potentially embarrass themselves on TV.

However, these two are very good! They perform in the video below the Olly Murs and Demi Lovato song “Up,” and have really great harmonies. You can tell that they’ve been singing together for a long time and have some great chemistry on-stage together.

Granted, the biggest stumbling block these two may have is just being almost too sweet, and typically the only groups that get through are the ones that are super-young and can get marketed easily by Simon Cowell and the label. It’d be nice to have a little more variety on the groups category, but we’re not sure that we are going to get it this year.

To be fair, we also don’t want to judge these two as worthy of the live shows based on one performance. They’ve also got the six-chair challenge and more to conquer.
