‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: How is Sheldon going to handle distance from Amy?
Throughout the run of “The Big Bang Theory” the past several years, Sheldon and Amy have had a largely-stable relationship despite some of their obvious problems. One of the biggest ones has definitely been his treatment of her, which has never been particularly great. Does he care for her? Sure; the fact that he had the ring is proof of that. He just puts very little consideration into the consequences of his actions, and that is going to cause him some pretty significant trouble.
So now that they are on a break, is Sheldon going to completely do a 180 and change his thinking? Not exactly. Instead, he is going to think more in terms of what he wants (getting Amy back) than anything that she has told him that she needs from him. This is something that executive producer Steve Molaro details further in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
“His thought processes can get pretty misguided in that that he thinks, ‘Oh, this will make her jealous and make her like me again,’ but that will only make her furious. He’s not good at leaving her alone. The one thing she asked for was a little bit of time to think and he’s not going to give that to her.”
With this, Molaro makes it clear that there is not any real timetable at the moment as to when the couple is going to get back together … though we’re pretty confident that it will happen. While the show may not have been at first about Sheldon’s love life, it has evolved into this being a big part of his story. If they didn’t end up together, what is the point of the past few years?

I think that they should keep Sheldon and Amy apart until Shelving learns to give Amy some space. I think that Sheldon needs to get guidance from Professor Proton. Then, pehaps Shamy can sit down and really communicate. Sheldon will tell Amy about the ring. Then, by the 200th episode , they will be back together/engaged Or, the season finale will include a Shamy engagement.
