‘The Knick’ season 2 trailer has arrived, and it’s awesome
Over the course of the summer we wrote extensively about “Halt and Catch Fire,” a brilliant series on AMC who needs as much ratings support as humanly possible. Today, we’re writing about another show in that same category in “The Knick,” a stellar show for Cinemax that does not get anywhere close to the love that it deserves.
For those who don’t exactly know, the show revolves around the lives of those who work at the Knickerbocker Hospital, a particular establishment in New York City in the early 1900s. Clive Owen gives a stellar performance as Dr. John W. Thackery, and we’d say the same thing about that incredible mustache that he has to go along with it.
While we would not necessarily say that the trailer below gives away any particularly huge event, it does show you a series of individual moments that are all powerful visually, and you have a few really great lines from Owen to go along with it.
So why doesn’t “The Knick” perform any better in the ratings than it does? Really, we feel like the simplest way to answer that is merely a matter of the fact that it airs on a network that is still trying to get an audience for itself when it comes to scripted drama, and this is a very different sort of show than it has showcased with “Banshee” or “Strike Back.” HBO has done its part to promote the series on some of its platforms, which feels about right given that it actually feels more in line with their brand.
