‘Fear the Walking Dead’ episode 3 preview: More of the horror, and a city falling into chaos
In some ways, the city of Los Angeles feels like it is a character on “Fear the Walking Dead” as much as any real person. At the start of the series, you had a city that at least felt reasonably normal; however, within two episodes we have seen it try to cope with chaos, violence, and a spread of the zombie virus in a way that is violent and terrifying … and it is not handling it well.
At the end of episode 2, Travis, his ex, and their son found themselves trapped inside a business while there were riots and carnage on the other side of the door. Based on the sneak peek below from Sunday night’s new episode (entitled “The Dog”), clearly the crew managed to figure out a way to get out in one piece. They are now driving to destinations unknown, and you can see just how bad Los Angeles is suffering around them.
To us, the most horrifying moment is watching someone infected with the disease seemingly be brutally murdered. It’s a further reminder that in the early days, the walkers / whatever you want to call them were not so easy to kill. It is almost strange to compare what you see here to the flagship show, where Rick Grimes and company can rip through them like nobody’s business.
We will be back with a review of “The Dog” on Sunday, and hopefully we do continue to take some steps forward. We know that the show does not want to rush things, but at the same time you only have six episodes in season 1. It’s a difficult trade-off that way.
