‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago PD,’ and ‘Chicago Med’ casts reunite for new photo

We know at the moment that Dick Wolf and NBC certainly has quite a bit of affection for the city of Chicago. After all, there are three different shows all on the schedule for this fall, and they all are going to play a very important part in showing you how this city operates. We have a cop drama in “Chicago PD,” life at a firehouse in “Chicago Fire,” and even a new hospital drama in “Chicago Med.”

The photo above comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, and it is just about the most massive cast photo you are ever going to see. It features characters from every single branch of the show, and it is even up to date. For example, there is no Laurie Holden in the “Chicago Med” photo, and new addition Torrey DeVitto is there.

The challenge for all three of these shows is ultimately a fairly simple one when you think about it: Trying to find a way to establish strength across all three in terms of an audience. It’s tricky to ask someone to watch three hours of TV a week, and not everyone may decide to do so. Therefore, you have to separate them enough so that they all work, but given them enough of a through-line so that people who watch all three are rewarded.

One other challenge is keeping everything together in a way that makes sense schedule-wise, given that they start at different times. “PD” is the first to premiere on September 30, following by “Fire” in October and then “Med” in November.
