‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: Carnage, Heretics, and more in first trailer!

This is turning out to be a rather nice week when it comes to The CW releasing a variety of new trailers on some of their upcoming shows. This means a chance to see the first official clip below for “The Vampire Diaries” season 7!

Is this one completely eventful? It’s definitely one of the better trailers that we’ve seen for any fall show so far, and for a variety of different reasons. First and foremost, you’ve got a major conflict in Mystic Falls. The Heretics are taking over the town, and are creating a place where humanity is simply not welcome. Can Damon and Stefan manage to defy Lily and get control of things, or are the Heretics completely taking over? We like to a certain extent that the main story for now seems simple. There really is not any point in complicating it, and we’ve got some good villains at the core.

Of course, we do understand that there are some out there who are understandably going to be at least a little bit bummed that Nina Dobrev is not a part of it, and her lack of presence in this does feel strange. Yet, you do still have Stefan and Caroline for all the romantics out there, and there’s going to be some other great mythology and action. Ultimately, we feel like there are still more than a few reasons to keep watching.

The new season is going to start on Thursday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
