‘After Paradise’ finale review: Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert’s wedding plans, Carly Waddell’s chat, and more
Tonight marked the finale of “After Paradise,” and do you remember some of what we were saying about the show really needing to cut down on the number of guests? Well, about that…
Even though there were so many personalities to get to over the course of the hour, Chris Harrison and Jenny Mollen still had Sean and Catherine Lowe, plus comedienne Nikki Glaser and Miss America herself on the show. The less we talk about most of the guests (or really the first 30 minutes of the show), the better.
We do want to spend a minute or two talking about the Carly Waddell – Kirk DeWindt segment, and we actually think that he handled it about as well as he could. Carly had every right to be as angry as she was over the whole ordeal, and while him not talking to her much beforehand was a little cowardly (he clearly wanted it to be in an environment where it could be over in a contained amount of time), it did feel to us like he was pretty genuine in how he explained his feelings and some of the mistakes that he’s made. The fact that he was afraid to tell her the truth about the speed of the relationship is human, and we’re not really surprised that he wasn’t upfront about it. That’s not an indictment on him; instead, it’s just a statement on many relationships.
As for Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert, they’re starting the wedding planning … sort of. They haven’t talked about a timeframe just yet, but they did say that they do not want to have a particularly long engagement. Make of that what you will!
