‘The Bastard Executioner’ spoilers: Check out more photos of Lee Jones as Wilkin Brattle!

In some ways, we may go ahead and proclaim that this week is the week of “The Bastard Executioner” here at CarterMatt. The show premieres on September 15 with two hours designed to firmly introduce you to this world, and also its leading man Wilkin Brattle (played by Lee Jones).

You are going to get a chance to see this man fleshed-out during the premiere, but the basic character description is that he is a warrior-knight who gives up his charge for an agrarian life, only to find himself in a position where he must take up the weapon of a wayward executioner. Bloodshed and warfare will play a key role in this series, as will politics and the role of religion during the Middle Ages. The church is going to make its presence known in formidable ways, and they are not always going to be a place for praise and worship.

You can see some of these photos as a way to get a multitude of different dimensions of the Wilkin character, and to see Jones in an array of different settings. He is not a name that you may not be that familiar with just yet, but we’re pretty sure that you will by the time you start to fully get into this season. He is one of the actors to watch this fall, and show creator Kurt Sutter has a knack for finding great talent.

Sutter himself stars in this series alongside the likes of Stephen Moyer, Timothy V. Murphy, Katey Sagal, and many more. We’re sure we will have even more photo previews soon enough.
