‘The Bastard Executioner’ spoilers: Check out new photo highlighting Katey Sagal

The series premiere of “The Bastard Executioner” is taking place in just over a week, and we are starting to get more and more promotional material from FX all about it! What’s not to like about that?

We’ve promised to highlight a number of different characters on the show as we get closer and closer to the premiere, and this means today getting a chance to see a new look at Katey Sagal as Annora of the Alders, one of the more fascinating roles on the show. When FX released character descriptions earlier this week, they described her as “Prescient, mystical and beautiful. She offers predictions, cures and potions.” She is someone who has a romantic partner-of-sorts in the mysterious Dark Mute (showrunner / creator Kurt Sutter), who you can also see in the attached photo. Few have seen this man’s voice or heard him speak.

Is there any real sort of magic or mysticism in this series? For the most part, all of the material we’ve seen has suggested that the show is more gritty than fantastical, but the interesting thins is that Annora doesn’t have to actually be magical to be a threat to many of the other characters. She just has to present the threat of it, which is in many ways good enough in an era where so many things are unexplained.
