The two-hour premiere of “Law & Order: SVU” is going to be coming up on Wednesday, September 23, and we’re happy to be at the point now where we can start to discuss a little bit of what could be coming up for the characters!
The first photo above is of Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) in the premiere, and we feel like this could especially be a really interesting season for her. First and foremost, we have to mention the fact that Giddish is currently expecting, and it looks as though it is going to be revealed pretty early on whether or not that is going to be written into the show. If it is, it will probably influence her character’s arc in a pretty significant way.
Even if it is not, the end of season 16 did leave her off in an interesting place, given that Nick Amaro has departed to Los Angeles, and with her personal history with him, it will be interesting to see how she reacts to the changing landscape of the squad. She, Fin (Ice-T), and Carisi (Peter Scanavino) are probably going to be relied on even more than they were previously, especially since we haven’t heard about the show casting any more permanent members of the team (at least for the time being).
For those who haven’t heard, the nature of the case in the premiere will be reminiscent in some ways of the Robert Durst case, which is a chance for the show to rip something from the headlines almost right away.
