‘Fear the Walking Dead’ episode 2 ratings strong, but down versus premiere
We knew that “Fear the Walking Dead” was going to get big ratings for its series premiere, but the most telling aspect of the show would be seeing how the show handles a potential sophomore slump. After all, there were some things standing in the series’ way, whether it be the MTV Video Music Awards, preseason football, and also just people who may decide that they want to watch via DVR the rest of the way.
According to a new report from Deadline, the second episode of the series scored 8.2 million viewers and also a 4.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. These are still wonderful ratings, and things that AMC should be really proud of at the moment. This is probably going to be somewhere close to the norm throughout the first season, or at least we hope so.
There is still a reason for at least a little bit of concern on the part of the network, if for no other reason than that next week, there is not going to be a new installment airing on AMC. In its place, you are going to see the standard Labor Day Weekend programming. The network doesn’t want to set itself up with lower ratings on a poor weekend for TV viewing, but it is possible that this still comes back to bite them.
We’ll have some other news when it comes to “Fear the Walking Dead” soon enough, so stay tuned! We expect things to only get more grim as we go through the rest of season 1.
