‘Supergirl’ spoilers: See first look at Jenna Dewan-Tatum as Lucy Lane

Supergirl -While Lois Lane may be off somewhere in Metropolis during CBS’ upcoming “Supergirl,” the show is finding use of her older sister Lucy. “Witches of East End” alum Jenna Dewan-Tatum is playing the part, and you can see a first-look photo of her as the character below, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

What we know right now is that Lucy has a romantic past with James (Mehcad Brooks), but as executive producer Ali Adler tells the site, don’t expect her to show up just to be a part of some love triangle with James and Kara Danvers a.k.a. Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist):

“We hope to explore the history that Lucy has with James Olsen — or, as Lucy knows him, Jimmy Olsen … I think we’re going to bring in her father. She not only plays a romantic foil with whatever Kara and James are brewing, but people will also be surprised that she’s really a woman’s woman. She and Kara develop their own friendship, too. We’re not just bringing her in to purposefully create tension. She serves a larger story drive.”

We’re interested to see how she factors into this world, even if it doesn’t seem like Lucy is about to take on the Superwoman mantel as she does in some versions of the comic books.

The “Supergirl” premiere is set to air on CBS on Monday, October 26, and the challenge for the show right away will be finding a way to appeal to both casual fans of the character and the comic-book faithful. Ratings expectations have to be much higher here for the show to stay on the network; “Arrow” and “The Flash” have a lower threshold thanks to being on The CW.
