‘Saturday Night Live’ adds Jon Rudnitsky as new featured player for season 41
What has been most unusual about “Saturday Night Live” this summer is that after many years of sweeping changes to the cast, there was almost no change at all going into season 41. At least at the moment, the cast of featured and full-time players remains the same. Maybe some more news will break over the coming days, but it hasn’t so far.
The only change that has been confirmed is this one: Jon Rudnitsky, an up-and-coming standup comic originally from New Jersey, has been signed on as a featured player for season 41. This is a big platform for him, but he’s going to have a hard time matching the instant success of Pete Davidson, who came on the show last year and really managed to break out almost immediately. That alone was rather impressive.
The new season premieres on October 3 with host Miley Cyrus, so that gives Jon a good month-plus to become acclimated to the studio and to his fellow cast members. Of course, we have a tough time imagining that almost any of this will really make him prepared for that nervous feeling of being on the show for the first time, trying to perform and impress the live studio audience and viewers at home. We’ve heard countless stories about how the first show can be one of the most nerve-wrecking experience for any seasoned comic.
If there are some other changes made to the cast over the coming days, we’ll have them for you here. Be on the lookout.
