‘The Originals’ season 3 spoilers: More news on Jason Dohring’s character

At the moment, some of the story pertaining to “The Originals” season 3 is a mystery, but if there is one thing we do like very much, it is getting a chance to see Jason Dohring on the show. Not only that, but he gets to play a role that really does not turn up on the show too much these days: A human one. Absolutely insane, right? Well, we still find it really fun that we get to have some new blood (obvious pun intended) surfacing on the CW series.

In talking further about the “Veronica Mars” alum’s character of Detective Kinney, executive producer Julie Plec had the following to say to The Hollywood Reporter:

“Jason’s character is decidedly human. It’s a nice breath of fresh air. He plays a detective. There is a crime that happens in the first episode, and he comes in to investigate it. He’s working closely with some of our characters. The question is, how much does he know or not know about what’s going on in the supernatural world? And what’s going to happen to him as a result of digging too deep?”

One of the nice things about bringing in a new human character is that it never separates the show too far from reality. That is really important for a show that could just get crazier and crazier with supernatural stuff.

This season will premiere on The CW starting on Monday, October 12, so you are going to get an opportunity soon enough to make some impressions of your own. Stay tuned!
