‘The Bastard Executioner’ spoilers: First photo of Ed Sheeran!

TBXThe premiere of “The Bastard Executioner” on FX is coming next month, and one of the people that we are the most excited about it is someone who is really just getting their feet wet in TV show acting: Ed Sheeran. The popular singer / songwriter has a guest spot coming up, and it is a deadly one. He is working alongside a church elder, and in the medieval days, working for the church did not mean just leading prayers and reading off scripture.

You can see a first-look photo of Sheeran below via Entertainment Weekly, and in a brief interview, he also commented to the publication that he specifically asked to be someone rather undesirable as a way of shaking it up and playing against what is his expected type of role:

“I find that I have reputation of being a smiley approachable guy, so I wanted the opposite. I said to [creator Kurt Sutter], make sure that I’m not typecast at all. Write me as a complete d—head in it. I feel like I need that.”

This part is going to be a great opportunity for that and more, and it also furthers along a new partnership between Sheeran and Sutter. It started some time ago when the singer complimented “Sons of Anarchy” on its music, and this eventually led to Ed performing a cover of “Make It Rain” for one of the last episodes. Interestingly, we’re talking about this today following the news coming out that there could be a spin-off to the FX series focusing on the Mayans.
